In the past couple of weeks, I've had several patients
come to me with new diagnoses of cancer, and tumors and cysts that COULD be
cancer.
What they all have in common is cells growing abnormally.
Given the common interpretation of cancer as something
that invades, takes over, and has a life of its own that can replace yours,
it's no surprise that my patients are scared.
Here are some of the approaches I see:
- obsessing about
it
- being angry
about it
- wanting it gone
- forming a
loving, ownership relationship with it, as
if it were a
child or a pet
- trying to figure
out what to do about it
- visualizing
other cells in the body killing it
- trying not to
think about it
Do you notice something all these approaches have in
common?
They are all about "it." They all make the
condition real, give it energy and attention. Based on what we know about the
Law of Attraction, we know that attention to anything-- no matter what kind of
attention--makes it increase in our experience.
But if you believe cancer, tumors, and cysts have a life
of their own and have invaded your body, it's pretty much impossible not to
give them attention.
I'd like to give you another way to think about them.
By the time abnormally growing cells are detectible,
there are already hundreds of thousands, millions, or even billions of cells.
In most cases, they show up as a surprise to the person who has them. As far as
I can tell, most of us don't get a particular illness because we were putting a
lot of attention on that illness before it manifested.
Once it's there, our attention to it gives it increased
momentum. But what created it in the first place, if it wasn't our attention to
the illness?
You might believe it was something in your DNA, or all
the toxic stuff in our environment.
How do you feel if you believe these things?
Powerless, or angry, right? So, those beliefs are
stressful, and not very helpful for creating health.
Try this on:
Whether it's cancer, a benign cyst or tumor, or any other
illness, the manifestation of the illness was preceded by an out-of-alignment
energetic pattern that you were practicing for quite some time.
It is YOUR energy, not some invading force, that is creating
the illness.
Maybe you didn't notice it, because it had become
"normal" for you to be anxious, frustrated, angry, scared, sad. Maybe
you were used to feeling powerless, ashamed, guilty, blameful. Maybe it was a
habit of yours to find things to complain about and criticize in almost every
situation.
If everyone you know does these things too, they do seem
normal. But that doesn't make them exempt from the Law of Attraction.
Most people react to the idea that it's their own energy
causing the illness by getting defensive and feeling blamed.
That's because they are still thinking of the illness as
a problem.
But it's only a problem if you think it is. That's what
you think if you've got the belief that it's got power of its own, or the
belief that you are incapable of changing your beliefs, and therefore the
energetic pattern that is creating it.
I won't deny that for most of us, it's some work to let
go of our firm grip on dearly held beliefs, even if they are causing us
excruciating pain.
Of course, the belief that it's hard to let go of our
beliefs doesn't help!
The most debilitating belief I know of is the belief in
one's own powerlessness to change one's beliefs, and therefore, one's
manifestations.
Really, why would you want to hold on to THAT one?
Personally, I'd rather take responsibility for creating
my reality, and get on with doing just that on purpose.
What about you?
